Denied But Heard About Denied But Heard
Who we are.
Denied But Heard is a policyholder-led campaign for people whose health, home or car insurance denied, delayed or overcharged them. We’re independent of insurers, we don’t take donations, and we don’t file claims for anyone. We help people act on their own claim on time, document what happened, and push for changes we can measure.
Updated October 23, 2026. General information, not legal advice. Your policy, plan documents and state rules control.
Why it started
The campaign was started by Ross Cooper, who has worked on about a thousand restoration jobs, including water damage, moisture and mold. That work meant documenting damage day by day, answering adjusters and outside reviewers, and watching homeowners get stuck with the difference when a claim was cut or stalled. He holds the IICRC Health and Safety Technician certification, other IICRC and NORMI certifications, and a Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) license, and he has a background in IT.
He is not a lawyer or a licensed public adjuster, and neither is this campaign. When a claim is large, old or close to a deadline, we say so and point you to licensed help.
How we work
- Official sources only. Our guides link to government and regulator sources and show the date they were last checked.
- Your story stays yours. The guides send nothing you type. The claim helper reads your files once and doesn’t keep them.
- Independent. No insurer, provider or contractor pays us, and we don’t take donations.
- Real cases, changed details. Case stories come from real claims, with every identifying detail changed.
